The 15 Best Places to Host a Baby Shower in Asheville
1. Have a Lively Baby Shower at Pack’s Tavern
Pack’s Tavern is a classic restaurant set in a historic 1912 building on Pack Square. It’s home to three venues for private events, and the Parkside Patio’s casual ambiance is perfect for baby showers.
You’ll love to celebrate overlooking Pack Square, the heart of downtown. This area is active all year round, especially during the warmer months, with locals and tourists attending festivals, picnicking on the grass, or cooling down at Splashville.
You can choose from a menu of heavy hors d’oeuvres, family-style, or buffet dinners. The staff will help you choose which is best for your party. This space can accommodate up to 40 guests, with a minimum of 25.
Don’t leave without some group photos in front of the yellow 1932 Model A Ford parked outside. Called the “Juice Box” or “Pack’s Yellow Truck,” it’s a fun downtown landmark.
2. Host a Garden Party at the Douglas Ellington House
Douglas Ellington was “the architect who changed Asheville into an Art Deco showplace” in the 1920s. He designed the City Building, Asheville High School, First Baptist Church, and the famous building that hosts the S&W Market.
Known as the Douglas Ellington House, he built his private home entirely by hand in 1926, using architectural remnants from his other projects and without a blueprint! The Douglas Ellington House is now an Asheville historical landmark, and the best part is that the grounds are available for private events.
This is the perfect venue for a baby shower in Asheville during the warmer months. The lush garden is astonishing year-round, and the main house is available if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
You can pair this baby shower with a photo session (the images will be magical!) or gift the expectant parents a night at the adorable on-site one-bedroom storybook cottage.
3. Host a Candle-Making Party at Hummingbird Candle Co.
Hummingbird Candle Co. is a sustainable candle-making studio that offers super fun classes and workshops, including three-hour experiences for private parties. You can customize your event, and the best part is that each guest will leave with an 80+-hour-burning custom eco-lux candle.
This is one of Asheville’s most colorful shops, and great photos are always guaranteed! The vibe is also super festive and engaging. You can choose from the 30+ scent library and add glitter, crystals, large vessels, and dyes to your candle. Kids seven and older are welcome, and you’ll need at least 10 guests for a group event.
4. Enjoy Afternoon Tea at The Book & Bee
The Book & Bee is an adorable restaurant in Hendersonville that offers breakfast, lunch, formal afternoon tea, and plenty of books. The cozy ambiance invites conversation and tech-free time, and it’s perfect for those who love all things British, including the rich literature.
You’ll love the selection of teas, the names of which are all inspired by books and authors (Rose Black Tea is “The Austen” and Peach Oolong Tea is “The Giant Peach”). The sweet and savory treats include finger sandwiches, scones, pastries, and cakes.
Another option is to order excellent cream tea service with warm scones, jam, lemon curds, and Devonshire cream.
5. Host a Picnic by the French Broad River
The Hominy Creek Outpost on the confluence of the French Broad River and Hominy Creek (north of Biltmore Estate) is open from April 15th to October 15th, and it offers the perfect space for an outdoor baby shower in Asheville.
You’ll love spending the whole day gathering by the water, relaxing in the hammocks, playing games, and sharing stories by the fire pit under the moonlight. There are picnic tables and a bar with the best local brews and ciders.
You can bring your favorite food truck, and there is even a stage for a band! Of course, the venue is kid- and dog-friendly.
6. Play with Kitties at an Asheville Cat Lounge
Asheville has two cat lounges/shelters that are great for small baby showers since they accommodate 10 to 12 guests. These venues are ideal for cat lovers, and guess what? All cats are available for adoption, so you might go home with an extra baby!
Cats at Play Cafe can host up to 12 people and offers a vast menu of local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You’ll love that everything is cat-related, from the art on the walls to the names of the beverages, the games, and the books.
The House of Black Cat Magic hosts primarily black cats and doubles as an excellent magic shop. While they don’t sell drinks and food, you can bring your own. They offer fun add-ons like guided women’s circles, tarot readings, and (this is the best!) kitten showers with extra kittens to cuddle with.
7. Have a Baby Shower at the Wedge
The Wedge at Foundy Street in the River Arts District is one of the most iconic Asheville breweries, and it has three awesome event spaces hosting 25 to 60 seated guests. You’ll love the exposed brick walls, the display of local art, and the colorful murals outside, which make excellent photo backgrounds.
The Courtyard seats 50, is outdoors, has covered picnic tables, and features beautiful street art. It’s perfect for families with kids and dogs. The mezzanine seats 30, and the Cloud Room seats 60 but can hold up to 130 guests. You can cater food from local vendors and enjoy some of the best local craft brews.
8. Keep It Simple at a Local Park
Asheville is home to many beautiful parks with picnic shelters, which makes it an easy and affordable way to host a baby shower. You’ll have picnic tables, pavilions, trash cans, restrooms, and access to playgrounds. You only need to bring some decorations, food, and a fun spirit.
Here is the list of Asheville Parks and Recreation’s picnic shelters that can be reserved in advance. I love Malvern Hills Park and Weaver Park – they’re perfect for families with little kids, and Weaver Park has a small creek.
Carrier Park by the French Broad River has one of the best playgrounds in Asheville and has something for kids, adults, and dogs! Although reserving its pavilion is pricier, it’s worth it for bigger groups.
9. Have a Zen Baby Shower at Haiku
Haiku is one of the best venues in Asheville for small weddings, elopements, and other life celebrations. They offer customizable event packages, and fees vary according to the day of the week. The Zen gardens with koi ponds will make the perfect setting to welcome your baby Buddha!
All celebrations include indoor and outdoor space, outdoor garden tables, a fire pit, a water station, a catering kitchen (or bring your favorite food truck!), free parking, a soft setting, and adorable decorations with vintage lounge furniture and rugs. The on-site Haiku facility manager will ensure everything goes according to your plan.
10. Celebrate at The Never Ending Flower Farm
The Never Ending Flower Farm in the Big Ivy Community of Barnardsville, NC, offers a 24×50-foot rustic pavilion with mountain views and a half-acre where you can pick your own flowers to decorate the party. This sweet venue seats up to 40 people and is ideal for small weddings, elopements, and baby showers. The renting fees are very affordable, too.
The event package includes five hours of fun, tables, chairs, one three-gallon DIY bucket to pick flowers, a bar area with a sink, electricity, string lights, and restrooms. In addition, they have staff who can help you plan every aspect of your dream Asheville baby shower.
11. Enjoy the View from Asheville Art Museum’s Terrace
The Asheville Art Museum has several spaces for private events: the atrium, classrooms, a multipurpose room, studios, and the café and terrace. The terrace would be perfect for hosting an artistic Asheville baby shower and enjoying an al fresco party overlooking downtown.
The museum’s rooftop Perspective Café has indoor seating, while the adjacent Sculpture terrace offers skyline and mountain views. The museum also displays seasonal exhibitions and a permanent collection that features an overview of the movements and trends in American and Southwest art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
12. Host a Stylish Shower at Engaged Asheville
Engaged Asheville offers one of the most versatile venues in Asheville. It works for workshops, small weddings, holiday parties, baby showers, and most get-togethers. It also doubles as a photo studio, so you’ll have that fun add-on.
The space is super luminous and simply gorgeous – you won’t even need decorations, although it’s super easy to decorate and personalize. You’ll love the minimalist, modern decor, the mid-century chandeliers, and the mix-and-match vintage china. You can bring your own food and beverages, or their creative team will take care of every detail of your baby shower for you.
13. Keep It Casual at Baked Pie Company
Not everything has to be planned in advance. My friend had her sweet, laid-back baby shower at Baked Pie Company in Arden. She and her group just dropped in with balloons, ordered a few pies and coffee, and had the loveliest gathering. The space is inviting and cutely decorated, so a fun group was all we needed to have a ball.
Baked Pie Company has some of the best pies in Asheville. Their menu is extensive, with many seasonal offerings and day specials. Follow their active Facebook Page to get updates.
14. Have a Sweet Shower at Rabbit Hole
Rabbit Hole is adjacent to Sunny Point Café, one of the best brunch spots in Asheville and an excellent restaurant. They opened Rabbit Hole a few years ago, and it is a great spot to have lunch or get a cup of coffee and a pastry while you wait to get a table at Sunny Point (which doesn’t allow reservations – and it’s very popular).
The bakery offers a seasonal farm-to-table menu, and their pastries, cookies, and cakes are to die for. Their cute space overlooks Sunny Point’s flower and vegetable garden and is available for private events. You’ll love the relaxed ambiance, games, kids’ books, and coloring supplies.
15. Have an Alfresco BBQ at Luella’s
Luella’s Bar-B-Que in North Asheville has an outdoor back patio for private events. While enclosed, it’s not heated, so it works for warm-weather baby showers in Asheville. In addition, it’s next to Weaver Park (they share a parking lot), which would be a great place to continue the party with the little ones.
Luella’s has all the Southern comfort food staples. You’ll love the wings, the outstanding chile-rubbed beef brisket, and the variety of sides. The banana pudding is one of the best desserts in Asheville!
