How to Help Asheville After Hurricane Helene: Donation Opportunities

That tree in the photo above fell across the road directly in front of our house early on Friday morning, September 27th. Another fell on the roof of our other property just down the road. It was one of the scariest experiences of our lives, and we were some of the lucky ones.

Hurricane Helene has absolutely destroyed many homes, businesses, and roads around our little city of Asheville and we need your help more than ever. If you’re living here in Asheville you can find a list of volunteer opportunities on the BPR website here. If you have the ability to open your home to families and first responders, many people simply need a hot shower and to run a few loads of laundry/dishes.

Below are some great organizations on the ground in Asheville, supporting our community. We also highlight some local artists, art galleries, coffee shops, and restaurants with their preferred method of support (purchase or donation) on this spreadsheet if you want to send support directly to the businesses affected.

Thank you for your support!

To Support Asheville’s Animals

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

“Our shelter has been flooded due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. To Support the Local Artist Community

Foundation Studios AVL

Per the GoFundMe Page: “Foundation Studios in Asheville, an art gallery and community artists collective, was completely submerged with water during Helene. Not only was this art studio a huge source of income for the many artists who inhabit the Asheville area, it also happens to belong to my friends Reid and Jordan. They have poured their heart and soul into creating a place where artists can gain exposure, build community, and earn money for their craft.

All of the artists at Foundation lost years worth of their work, if not all of it, supplies, and worst of all, the source of income they relied on by selling their art in the gallery. Additionally, my friends have lost not only their art, but their business.”

You can donate through their GoFundMe Page.

River Arts District Artists (RADA)

“The River Arts District has been decimated by historic flooding. Most of our 26 buildings experienced catastrophic destruction including art and the supplies and equipment used by creators.

We will be working to restore the creativity and inspiration of our beloved River Arts District. Our goal is to assist our artists as best we can with rent and supplies. The only way this is possible is with your support.”
